Danny, King of the Basement is a funny and touching play about a boy whose spirit and imagination triumph over the challenges of homelessness and life in a single-parent family. Through the building of community among his peers, he shows the power of friendship to change lives.
Richard Ouzounian, Theatre Critic for the Toronto Star summed it up best when he wrote, "Danny - King Of The Basement is everything that you want a show for young audiences to be. First off, it's entertaining, speaking to the kids in a language they understand with images they recognize and humor they can relate to. Secondly, it's been put together by top-notch professionals, with witty direction ... imaginative design... and right-on performances from the entire cast. But most importantly, it's been written with insight and compassion by David S. Craig around a very important theme: the thin but seemingly uncrossable line that divides the haves from the have-notes in our society."
