"What the world needs now is love, sweet love..." and the WYO Theater and Civic Theatre Guild deliver with Back to Bacharach and David, a musical revue of composer Burt Bacharach and lyricist Hal David.
Three decades ago, Bacharach and David began creating a series of hits for Dionne Warwick that fused the worlds of Cole Porter and Motown in songs so supercharged they threatened to jump out of their skins. Back to Bacharach and David stitches about 30 of these songs into a spirited musical tribute that has the added charm of not taking itself too seriously. At times sophisticated, at times brightly satiric, this tribute manages both to celebrate and look back with humor at some of the greatest pop songs ever written.
Directed by Pat Tomsovic, Kathy McNickle and Shawna Goldhammer, Back to Bacharach and David features local stage veterans and new talent alike with Steve Baskin, Ben Brewer, Danielle Burgess, Sabrina Dallegge, Sally Eaton, Matthew Epp, Nancy Phillips, Danita Richter, Lisa Spradlin, and Production Stage Manager Erin Butler.
