Aaron Everitt grew up in Sheridan. His life as a young boy shaped nearly everything that would follow. Twenty-five years ago, Maskil was an up-and-coming band that had just landed a record deal with a Christian label out of Nashville. For their debut album under that label, Aaron would write a tribute album to his life in Sheridan. A fond reminiscence of his past, and the amazing landscapes of the Bighorns. As the digital transition arrived, the label and the band could no longer survive. A lifetime has passed since, but Aaron and his wife Anna have begun to bring their music back to life. Along with some of their grown children and a cast of friends from their lives serving the church, Maskil has had a bit of a rebirth recently. Their live recording, Timecapsule was released in April and has seen a great response from people who grew up when live music was the greatest thing to see on a Friday night. Their night playing in Sheridan seems to be a full-circle moment. As Aaron describes it:
"It's always been a dream of mine to play the WYO. I saw Empire Strikes Back there when I was 6! I love Sheridan, and the chance to come back and play these songs for people who love their hometown, and live life in the shadows of the Bighorns is a dream come true."
If you haven't heard their music, critics have described it as a "Great combination of Rich Mullins lyrics with Dave Matthews Band musicality." Come out and enjoy a great evening of music about how the Bighorns and a life lived in the wrestling match of the Christian faith.
