Acting Out! is a partnership with Sheridan County School District 2, which features an after-school residency at each of the 5 elementary schools in Sheridan. At the culmination of the residency, students perform a play for their families and other after school students. In previous years, students have devised their own original plays throughout the course of 9 weeks working with a teaching artist.
In the 2025-26 School Year, Acting Out students will work with a teaching artist over the course of 6 weeks to produce a pre-written script. During the program, students will develop their theater literacy and creativity; build social and emotional skills such as empathy, awareness of cause and effect and self-management; and practice physical movement and expression. Plus, the Acting Out students will get to take a field trip for Backstage Tour at the WYO Theater.
Families interested in getting their 3rd-5th Graders involved should contact their After School Coordinator. The planned schedule for Acting Out coming to each school is: Meadowlark & Sagebrush from Sept-Oct 2025; Henry A. Coffeen from Nov-Dec, 2025; Highland Park from Jan-Feb, 2026; and Woodland Park from Feb-Apr, 2026.
