'Hir' (Pronounced "HERE") is a dark comedy following a dysfunctional family: Isaac returns home from military operations in Afghanistan to find his home upended. His abusive father Arnold is incapacitated from a stroke; his mother Paige, taking advantage of Arnold's condition, is a tyrant to the household; and his younger sibling Max identifies as genderqueer. As Isaac struggles to conform to the changes, Paige grows more crazed, and Max teeters between them. With an upheaval of traditional family roles this play creates a chaotic yet powerful exploration of identity, change, and how we cope.

"…sensational—in all senses of the word…[an] audacious and uproarious black comedy…Mac has his own gloriously skewed vision of the toxins fouling the American family from within, and in its avowedly loopy way HIR reflects current concerns about the decline of the middle class, as well as the trauma war veterans endure…brilliant writing…" —The New York Times.
